Probably the one question I have struggled with most in my life is “who am I”? and “Where do I belong?”
I have met many people desperately searching for that same answer. From my younger days to my 30’s, I found myself searching for the answer through friends, dating, going to clubs. Going on what seemed like endless adventures trying to find my way, only to find myself deeper in trouble financially, physically, confused and more depressed than ever. Doing all of those things left me feeling more confused and more alone. I remember a time when I was bawling and crying like a baby pig and “complaining I don’t even know who I am anymore, I give up!”
Fast forward some years, I am 43 now and this is still a question I ask myself daily. I am finding the answer rather amazing. I didn’t find the answer in the club. I didn’t find it at a bar. I didn’t find it at the end of a whiskey bottle. I didn’t find it bawling into my pillow. I did find it in a friend, Jesus. I found it in the word of The Holy Bible. I found it in Prayer. I found it inside me. This one scripture, that is so beautiful to me, opens the door to the answers of who I am, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:5”
So The Creator of ALL must know who I am. This means God knows everything about ME! HOW I think. HOW I act. HOW I respond. How I am and am not more than myself, my friends, my family, my own parents. He has the answers and that’s who I need to ask.
So “Lord who do you say that I am?” We should count it a major blessing when God fills these questions with truth and revelation. If you’ve ever asked or found yourself searching, that is Him calling you. Yes you. ?? You need to know WHO you are in Christ, so that you know WHAT to do, WHEN to do it, WHERE to go, and HOW to do it!
Who you are in Christ? When you are in Christ, EVERY ONE of these statements is true about you:
I am loved. 1 John 3:3
I am accepted. Ephesians 1:6
I am a child of God. John 1:12
I am Jesus’ friend. John 15:14

I can always know the presence of God because He never leaves me. Hebrews. 13:5
God works in me to help me do the things He wants me to do. Philippians 2:13
I can ask God for wisdom and He will give me what I need. James 1:5
I leave you with one of my favorite scriptures.
I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Simply choose to believe what God says about to you. Jeremiah 1:5
The next time you ask yourself “Who am I?”, go to the one place that has the answer, Word of God; and pull out one of these scriptures and declare who you are in the Lord.
